Im thinking about an iMac. I used own the 24" which I loved. However every time I look at the new monitor shape it feels weird, like more a sexy science fiction prop than a consumer product. It just looks SO wide! Anyone feel the same way before they bought one, but have adjusted fine? How does this shape effect movies, games, everyday tasks, etc...

I love it. For tv/movies it's perfect, and when I'm actually getting things done it's like having two monitors compared to the 4:3 15" I used to have.

It is a sexy sci-fi prop. You're just forgetting that we live in the future.

The aspect ratio has never bothered me at all. Fullsizing many 16x9 vids and movies is seamless, while having two safari windows side by side has never been any easier. You even have enough horizontal space to have two decently sized safari windows side by side with an IM window or something to the side of them.

It is big! Often times I have to turn my head from side to side to see from one side of the screen to another.
You almost have to split your activities in two, and have 1 task per side.
I always feel guilty that the screen is so big..

The real estate on this screen is amazing. There is more than enough room to do many things at once. Took me a few days to adjust to the size but it is all good now.
