I have been looking in the booklet to see how to control both aperture and shutter speed, it doesn't seem to make sense. Have I misunderstood the concept of manual mode, or does the GF1 not support full manual.

Basically, I want to be able to control the depth of field but equally control how much light is let through. It is not an overly big deal if GF1 can't do this but would be nice. When I go on manual and I turn the dial it only changes the shutter speed, aperture tends to stay fully open.

Do I have to hold a button and turn dial to control aperture value, I really am not seeing it in booklet, will feel like an idiot of if i'm just missing the right bit .

Push the dial until the aperture is highlighted in yellow on the LCD. Then you can change it with the dial.
