Today I was greeted by 6 ghost emails dated 12/31/1969. I’ve done all the prescribed steps—rebooted mail, hard reset, deactivate-then-reactivate the account in “Accounts and Passwords.” Can’t get rid of them.
This has happened before and sometimes the ghost messages disappear by themselves. There has to be a way of disposing of AND preventing them. BTW, this does not happen on my iphone—just my iPad.
Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

There’s a ghost living in your iPad and must have died reading some jokes in emails. It re-lives the last moments by receiving those emails and dying after reading the jokes contained in them.

Thanks for the thoughtful response.

Did you manually remove contact names? And did that eliminate the ghost messages? Or did all that happen without your help?
