Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help as Apple Chat Support seems to have made things worse.

I have an iPhone XR with the latest iOS. Since yesterday I keep getting a notification of 3 unread emails. I use a me.com email address. I have checked my emails and cannot find the 3 unread emails.

They appear to be ghost emails. I have even selected select all in my Inbox and set as mark read to all emails. However it still tells me I have 3 unread emails.

I contacted Apple chat support and they asked me to do a hard reset and asked me to make sure the date and time is set on automatically. The problem still exists.
They then asked me to switch mail off and on which I have done and no changes as the problem is still showing.

I then got asked to delete the mail app and reinstall it. Once I did this the problem still showed as 3 unread emails and it shows me an additional problem of all my previous emails are showing as No Sender, No Subject.

i am at a loss at how to resolve the unread mail issue and now this new no sender issue. So hope someone here can help.

thanks in advance,

Sometimes I delete emails without reading them and they are sent to the trash as unread. I’ve noticed that despite emptying the trash on one device or even from the server, these mails remain in the trash. Sending a mail to the trash, even if it’s unread, should reduce the badge count. But this might be worth a try anyway.

Access your mail from icloud.com on a desktop browser and try to locate the mails and delete them from there.

iOS 13’s Mail app is an unmitigated disaster. You might want to try a different mail app even if you do manage to solve this problem.

hi,

thanks for the reply. The unread messages issue seems to have resolved itself. However I still have the No Sender No Subject issue for all previous emails I had before i un installed and reinstalled mail app.
