My 11 pro (2018), bought refurbished from Apple around April 2020, started having issued with ghost touch after about 10 months from purchase.
Apple replaced it and now, approximately after another 10 months, it is once again having problems with ghost touch.
It doesn’t happen often, but it is quite annoying when a link/page opens without me touching the screen.

Am I just very unfortunate or is this a known problem with this model?
Is there any hope of getting a replacement that will not do this with time?

Been having this for awhile but don’t recall when. If you hover your finger too close to the screen without touch it, it will magically “touch”. Doesn’t happen all the time but sometimes

The more I read about this and the more it seems that most, if not all, 2018 11 pro will have some ghost touch at some point after a few months of use.
Some people seem to put up with it because “it only happens sporadically”, but as far as I am concerned even if it doesn’t happen often it is still a problem and makes the device unreliable.

Has anybody owned one of these for over a year and never doubted whether they have touched the screen by mistake?
Chances are that you have not.

My 11 Pro is from the launch day but I haven’t had this issue at all. Even now it works exactly how it did 2 years ago.

Yes, mine had this issue right after warranty expired also 2018 model. It's very annoying while watching YT, it will randomly select another videos normally on mine it usually touches lower bottom area. My fingers are never on the screen it has nothing to do with fingers hovering screen. I traded in the device to Apple.

What did you trade it for?
The new M1 is essentially the same unit with a different processor. There’s no guarantee it will be any better.

I downgraded to iPad Mini 6, I always felt 11" was a bit too big and heavy for casual use. I do miss smooth screen scrolling though but not a big deal.
