GIF animations in iChat

Does anyone know if you can use GIF animations in iChat?

Not currently. At this time, iChat does not support animated buddy icons.

That's silly. I would think it would be supported, it would make sence.

there is an app that lets you use a gif as your icon. it basically refreshes your icon with a new picture every second or so. but that could get annoying for people on 56k because refreshing your icon would take up their bandwidth.

i can't remember the name of the app, but i'm sure Google would have it.

ichat streaming icon lets you use your live webcam feed as an icon, but im not sure if it can use a gif.
