iPhone 8/Plus Giff gaff in America /texts not working

So currently visiting Liverpool England and bought a giff gaff sim loaded with credit. Everything works great EXCEPT the text message. Imessege/facetjme, calls and web perfect but texts either don't send or say they aren't delivered but actually are.

Would anyone know how to fix that?
Also, I'm traveling to new York next week and would like to keep using the sim as I have credit until mid August. Would that be possible?

No roaming with GiffGaff in the USA (only in the EU), so you will have to top up the account with a stash of GBP.

But! The charges are steep and you eat it at an alarming rate. Best bet is to just buy a sim in the US.

Sorry your title might have confused me there. Try a local sim from where you are right now then.
 
Guys. Apparently reading comprehension is not taught in school anymore.

My first sentence says "currently in Liverpool England. Giff gaff is a local sim in England.

And the title says America. Again, sorry that you feel frustrated. Best to ask the carrier directly I think
