Are gimbals worth it for iPhone X given that iPhone X has good stabilisation and also all gimbals seem to conflict with it?

"Worth it" is up to you. Look at the gimbal shots on YouTube & judge for yourself. You've got to carry it with you. It's not like you can just slip it in your pocket like your phone. If I had a gimbal I'd play with it a bit, but I never would want to carry it around. I bet a lot of gimbal owners buy it and use it for a while and enjoy the smooth views— then lose interest in it and it ends up in a drawer.

My conclusion was: get a real action camera instead. Get a GoPro.

A GoPro doesn’t do smooth shots though. Question is does it get used?

I use an DJI Osmo Mobile (Gen 1)
With my iPhone X. Works great. But the other poster is correct. It’s not something I carry around everyday. But if there is a specific fuction I’m going to where I know I want to take great vids. It comes with me. It definitely has its purpose. But it’s not something I’ll carry every day. Like all tools. There’s a time and place for usage.

I have a SMOVE. I strongly suggest you use a third party camera app with it. I use Filmic Pro which gives you a lot of control such as turning off the OIS.
