Giving her name only as Anna, she told The Sydney Morning Herald that she was upset over what people ahead of her in line were doing. They were, she said, letting their friends push in.

Anna said she had been in line for 24 hours. She said that instead of 80 people being in front of her, now there were 180. She blamed the store for not attempting to control what she saw as rampant pushing in. Why, for example, didn't they give people numbered cards?

I really don't have sympathy for someone who voluntarily stands in line for 24 hours when they could have just ordered one, then complains about it.

But the fact is that Apple make a big deal of being one of the first people to get the item from their store.

They play loud music and applaud you in when they open the doors, give you free food and I've even had free t-shirts to mark the event.

A numbering system would be ideal, but then I guess they'd have to have someone there 24/7 to hand them out?

None of this means you have to endure the queue. Nothing forced her to do it. I would never queue in a world of ordering online.

But then you're missing out on what is essentially an Apple event.

I agree that getting the item delivered to you is far more convenient, but these things create that sense of community that unites Apple fans the World over.

Well thats the choice you have to make. Do you want a phone or do you want a day out in the Apple Store? The girl made her choice either way and the consequences followed. She ended up queuing for a day.

Personally, I couldn't give two ***** about Apple Stores and all the cake you may or may not receive once inside with your wallet/card ready to purchase a new phone. It is just a marketing ploy to get people to invest their time in queueing as far as I'm concerned. And don't start to think that Apple care about the customer, they don't, they only care about the wallets they carry. And if people are eager to queue for phones and cake, then they should be accepting of what follows.

I see nobody hating on her here. It was entirely her choice. She shouldn't complain about waiting so long. It isn't as if queues during iphone releases are a rare thing outside apple stores is it?

I'm all for people doing as they wish with their time, within reason. To my knowledge, there is absolutely no law about cutting in line.
