Hi - I apologize in advance for my dumb questions about MobileNavigator Europe but I just got my iPhone 3GS and downloaded this app so am trying to learn everything in 24 hours before I go to Europe. So here's my question: if I use MobileNavigator Europe in France to drive, using the GPS, am I charged for data roaming? And if I were to check Google Maps, am I charged for data roaming? Trying to avoid huge charges. Thanks for your patience!

If you use MobileNavigator Europe, it won't need any data since the maps are downloaded right into your iPhone and the GPS chip won't require data so no data roaming there however if you use Google Maps which is totally dependent on data, then you'll get charged.

Thats no dumb question.

Like the others said, the maps are on the phone so don't need data to use them and GPS doesn't count as data either

Google maps download maps from the network so you would get charged.

You can turn off roaming in settings, almost sure its off by default.

Be sure to also set your mail accounts to checked manually and turn push off if you have a MobileMe or other push email account. On an overseas trip, I incurred some roaming data charges despite having Data Roaming switched to off.

Also, your thread title says you have "girly" questions and your post said it's "dumb" implying that you think you're asking a dumb question because you're a girl. I'd be personally grateful if you wouldn't make that connection because it's not true in the least (nor does it help garner any respect from male counterparts for you or any of us women when it comes to tech-related stuff). ;)
