Last week I finally gave in to temptation and ordered an 11 inch MacBook Air from the Apple refurb store. I bought the base model, and it came today. I love it.
I'd played with the Air a little bit at the Apple Store and Best Buy, but I still wasn't sure if the smaller screen would bother me. However, I wanted the portability of this thing, so I decided to give it a shot.
The high resolution makes up for the screen size, and it's not bad at all. You forget the screen is this small.
The 2gb of RAM seems to be plenty. I have 6gb of Ram in my late 2008 Unibody MacBook Pro, and this thing is equally as fast. My only mild concern is the hard drive with only 64gb, after installing my programs and syncing my dropbox, I only have about 30gb left. However, I won't be putting music on this, or movies, or even photos, so the rest of the space will likely be devoted to Word documents, so I think I'll be fine. For anything heavy I'll use my MBP anyway, this is all about portability and writing. So it should be perfect.
I debated waiting for the new models, but my goal was to spend the least amount of money, so I went with this one.
The only problem I had was the trackpad is loose. It wobbles, and I can push it down before it will click, which my MBP doesn't do. I called AppleCare, and they said the Apple Store can fix it same day. So rather than send it back, I figured I'll live with it until I get to the store.
All in all, a very happy new MacBook Air customer. If you're thinking about taking the plunge, just do it already.
