Glaring issues with 5870 mac pro lines, static etc - PLS POST HERE

Apple is currently in an investigation into the recent 5000 series graphics cards Apple is using on the new mac pro's. Please post here if you have any of the following issues:

PLEASE POST YOUR SPECIFIC SETUP AND THE MODEL / MAKE OF YOUR DISPLAYS. If you have photos or videos in action please post!

a) flickering horizontal lines in blacks on 30" displays (what make / model?)
b) white static noise randomly (looks analogue like bad tv noise)
c) display dropout issues - screens randomly go black / into power save mode
d) other display anomalies you might have with 5000 series cards (be specific)

Please post your specific setup. Again - there is a current investigation happening and this info will help show apple there is indeed a problem. (they currently want to blame all display manufacturers for their LCD panels when there is much evidence pointing to bad graphics cards (5000 series).

at one point on reboot i saw vertical red dots climbing my screen

I get problem b) static white dots

It goes away with a reboot.

I have a 2010 quad 2.8 with a 5870 gpu.

I have 1 2tb hdd osx drive. A wd re4

I have 3 3tb in a raid as time machine

My problem has happen more then 20 times since oct 2010.

Booting makes it go away.

My machine is a Princeton lcd with a dvi connection it is 1920 by 1200 and a 23 inch.

I have the base quad 2010 model (quad 2.8GHz) with the 5770 GF Card. I saw this issue when I connected the Mac Pro to my Sony HDTV (Bravia 40W4000) with a mini display port to HDMI converted and then HDMI to HDMI cable. I only saw this issue when the setting was set to 50Hz or 60Hz but worked fine when set at 24Hz.

I thought the adapter or HDMI cable were of bad quality and not the GF Card. I solved this issue by connecting a DVI to HDMI cable and the static noise is not seen at any refresh setting.

Flickering/static tv-like screen with distinctive green lines, occurs from boot up; disconnection and reconnection of DVI cables solves the problem

Static screen from Sleep; disconnection and reconnection of DVI cables solves the problem

Very high fan speeds when card is not under any load, happens at boot up or when computer is put to sleep; Reboot solves the problem

Apple 5870 --> HP Monitor
GT120 --> Hanns G Monitor

Occasionally the HP monitor will be stay black after boot but the Hanns G is fine. Pushing the power button to go to sleep, push again to wake, and the HP is fine.

Hasn't happened since i reset pram.

If you havent identified the exact model of your displays in your post please edit and add that info - it's very important for Apple.

Also - the biggest issues are with people that are running 30" monitors - the 5000 series cards are not pushing enough signal to these resolutions. Keep posting please!

5770 works ok. After pram reset and restart and. As advised earlier.

I have a corruption issue whenever I boot up my Mac Pro, just prior to the login screen loading, namely when the GPU is being initialised. It looks like a corrupted framebuffer - if I've just been using Bootcamp I can see parts of Windows 7's logoff screen, although the colours are distorted and there's a lot of 'noise'. I'll try and get a picture.

I have Mac Pro 4,1 (4 core 2.93Ghz) with the video card upgraded to the 5870.

5870 is attached to:
Dell U3011 (by direct minidisplayport to displayport)
Dell 2407WFP-HC (by DVI)

I have been having none of the issues (a-d) described by OP. I heartily recommend the direct displayport connection. It is the highest quality connection available, and the minidisplayport to displaport adapter is dirt cheap (because the two connectors are electrically the same).

I don't understand why anyone would want to convert minidisplayport to dvi or hdmi if they had a monitor that could take a displayport connection natively (like U3011, U2711, ZR30w, etc).

Specs in sig. These screen anomalies appeared when putting the system on heavy strain in InDesign with a 600MB document containing hundreds of fonts.

Have been in touch with Apple Support and they are investigating.

I get problem (b), the static filling the screen. It's rare, but when it happens, I have to reboot.
