who is here really hoping for a version to come out? I presume we don't have a working version yet. This extension makes safari useable with favicons in tab label, shrinks all your tabs to fit on ONE screen, etc  Best extension ever

been running it here thru beta6, and so far, works.
latest version: Glims Version 1.0.42 (10004207)

This version isn't working quite well for me. Can I ask,

1. does Glims sets your default search engine to Bing, and
2. do mini-tabs work (the feature when tabs don't fill up the entire length of the tabs bar)?

I'm worried there hasn't been any updates or even posts on the Facebook group page they have. Maybe this is the end of the line! Shame about safari, navigating the new one is a big Greg blur. Those mini fav icons in the tab bar and all tabs in one window was the shining jewel in glims.

i don't use bing, and...don't see it as an option. only a million google options. and the mini-tab thing...just tried it, doesn't seem to do anything.

i live & die by the key commands to switch tabs, and the 'open new tab to the right of current'...and both of those things work.

so...your mileage may vary...

1. My search engine stayed at DDG as the default.
2. Some of the tab functions worked, but it was hit and miss
3. It prevented my safari bookmarks from syncing with iCloud

They are working on a stable update, you can try out 1.0.43 as a nightly build.

For me I am going to wait until they have a proper release

where does one get the newest glims beta builds? i can't seem to find anything.

safari is unusable for me without favicons, that's the only thing i use it for.

i love firefox but safari in 10.10 is soooooooooooo fast.

i dunno; i mostly use it for: open tab next to current tab, max window size, and the key commands to jump from tab to tab...and those things work fine...

I don't think it's been updated since March and it has a few bugs then? I hope they haven't abandoned the project

The most important parts of Glims for me - fixing tab width and favicons - don't work on Safari 8.

I'm using SafariStand instead now, although favicon support is flakey. However, at least I can control the width of the tabs and it also (like Glims) allows separators in favourites. So I've uninstalled Glims.

I'm waiting for Glims too ! The link posted for the dev pdate is down for the moment but I'll try again later .

safaristand's favicon support is flaky for me too - if i close and reopen my browser favicons will show up, if i simply open a new tab then the favicon for that tab will not.

adjusting tab width and getting rid of the retarded tab scrolling behavior really makes my day.

this is the most important part to me too. I wish they would just charge for glims with the promise of making regular updates. It looks awful quiet on their webpage and Facebook for the last year.... we might have had the last version!

Reflecting on Saft

I suspect that zero-cost availability of Glims was a significant factor in cessation of development of Saft.

That's not ingratitude to the developers of Glims. Just a thought.

site is STILL down...guess that's the end of development for glims. am glad the few things i use it for work (i NEED those keys to switch between tabs!), a couple other features.

so it goes...

i was so psyched about safari in 10.10 - i needed favicons and i was good to go. saft provided this. i'd just go ahead and assume glims is a dead project and move on.

turns out safari is really really really fast.... at loading small/average size objects. once you start loading huge pages safari chokes/freezes. opera and chrome have similar problems but not as bad.

if you don't do anything more than play facebook games and look at cat pictures then safari is the way to go. megaman power users still can't use safari.

back to firefox i go. slower response time for day-to-day browsing but handles everything you throw at it just fine.

ah well.
