I'm writing to introduce everyone to Gliph. Gliph is a secure messaging app that also handles Bitcoin payments.

Hey y'all.

We recently updated the Gliph app with a new a revised activity view and some new security options to protect privacy.

You can now password protect the Gliph app like the Mint.com app. You can also turn off password reset so that your data can not be decrypted by anyone except you. We call it LockDown. If you need complete privacy, this is for you!

New Version Now Available on the Mobile Web

Hello folks,

We just released a new version of Gliph onto the mobile web. So you can now run Gliph in any modern web browser, not just using the iPhone or Android apps. I'm replying here, since I don't see a place for the "web app" platform. Please post if there's a better spot to put this!

This version has some updates that aren't in the iPhone app quite yet. Here are some of the updates, (you can read the complete update info in our blog entry.:

  • Revised conversation view - We’ve updated the look and feel of the conversation view to use more colorful thought bubbles and provide more friendly date information.
  • Updated Gliph View - Gliph View has been updated with some new visual treatments.
  • Updated Connection Settings - When you click Edit the facets I Share on the revisedGliph View, you’ll see a visual refresh on the Edit Connections page. Besides some better looking sliders, you’ll now get a visual indicator if you have a public facet that is not shared in the connection.What we found was that even if you share your first name publicly on Gliph, and then chose not to share it with a particular connection--it wasn’t obvious that your contact could see it after all. So, a new red glow appears around an off-switch that actually is ‘on’ because it is set as a public facet.
  • Revised Settings Page - The settings page has been slightly re-worked. We now show up front exactly which of your facets are public and which are private. You can then dive deeper to make changes on the Facets and Sharing screen.We found that sometimes we would accidentally toggle one of our Facets publicly. You definitely don’t want to accidentally reveal your phone number, so this change fixes that.We highlight all facets you’ve chosen to share publicly with the same red glow from Connection Settings. This is to further accentuate, “this is public, be careful!” You might also notice that adding new facets is now a more attractive process.

iPhone 5 and Picture Messaging Support

Hey MacRumors,

We have an updated iPhone app that adds Picture Messaging and iPhone 5 support. We also took Cloaked Email up a notch with new Chrome and Firefox plugins.

Today we released GliphMe, a powerful little link for connecting privately with friends and strangers. Watch the demo video here.

You can read more about the feature in our blog entry, or just download the app to try it for yourself. It also works on Android.

Basically, you can create a link which anyone can use to chat with you immediately on your iPhone or iOS device. LifeHacker covered it this morning here.

It is useful in Online Ads, and to take conversations on social networks like Twitter and Facebook private. Here are some examples:

We released some cool new stuff for Gliph today.

1. We brought bitcoin back to Gliph in the App Store. Now you can send Bitcoin to other Gliph users and also using a QR code scanner.

2. We added secure Group Messaging. Please see previous posts in thread to go over in detail how we handle security and our views on open source.

3. We have a totally revamped Android Application. It is now basically parity with iOS (no PIN lock on it)

4. We added a completely new Desktop Web app to use with gliph. Here's the promo video showing it off:



Uniquely, Gliph hooks up to both Coinbase and Blockchain.info wallets. It allows super easy p2p transfers (between Gliph useres) and spending outside Gliph using QR codes.
