I'm writing to introduce everyone to Gliph. Gliph is a secure messaging app that also handles Bitcoin payments.

Gliph is a FREE secure messenger and Bitcoin payments app for iPhone, Desktop Web and Android. Gliph uses 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi to message with friends, family and more. Gliph now includes Secure Group Messaging, Bitcoin QR code scanner!

Download the Gliph iPhone App Here

We also have an Android app too.

You might enjoy this video demo of our new Desktop web app, which runs really great in Fluid instance on the Mac:

Here are some reasons to use Gliph instead of other messaging tools:

* BITCOIN ENABLED: Quite simply the world’s easiest way to send Bitcoin. Now includes QR code scanner to pay outside Gliph network.

* REAL DELETE: means when you delete a message it is deleted from both sides of the conversation and the server. Real Delete = Real Privacy other services can’t offer.

* SECURITY AND PRIVACY: Gliph’s security over your personal information and conversation beats all popular messaging apps. Gliph has an industry-leading privacy policy and carefully crafted privacy controls that no other app has.

* GROUP MESSAGING: Flexible Secure Group Messaging lets you show a pseudonym to a gaming group and your real name to your co-workers. Other apps don’t do this!

* WORKS ON DESKTOP: Use Gliph from your iPhone, but also chat from your Desktop Computer (https://gli.ph/d), iPad or android tablet device as well! Gliph works everywhere that matters to you!

* QUALITY SUPPORT BY A HUMAN: Read the reviews! People love our Support Gliph because you access it in the app and a real person actually replies and helps you!

* NO HIDDEN COSTS: Download the app and chat securely for free. No limits because Gliph uses 3G / 4G LTE / and Wi-Fi when available.

* CLOAKED EMAIL: Buy a disposable email address that protects your privacy from spammy services you don’t want to know your real email address.

* GLIPHME: Create and manage an instant communication link so anyone with it can send you messages even if they don’t have the app!

* TURN OFF PASSWORD RESET: Remove your ability to reset your password using Gliphs’s Lockdown™ Privacy Protection and your data can not be decrypted by anyone but you! This feature alone is worth using Gliph for some folks!

* MUCH MORE: Send high resolution photos securely, choose whether to show message content in push notifications on per-contact basis, permanently delete entire conversations with a swipe and much more!

---------------------------------------------------------
HELP AND FEEDBACK: Read the reviews! We rapidly respond to Feedback! Here’s how to get action!
- Send a Gliph message to the Support Gliph
- Email at support@gli.ph
- Tweet at Gliph on Twitter: @gli_ph.
- Review the app! We <3 reviews!

Hey y'all.

We recently updated the Gliph app with a new a revised activity view and some new security options to protect privacy.

You can now password protect the Gliph app like the Mint.com app. You can also turn off password reset so that your data can not be decrypted by anyone except you. We call it LockDown. If you need complete privacy, this is for you!

Here's the blog entry with more information.

Hey folks.

I wanted to share an article about Gliph that made it to the top of the Privacy sub-reddit last week.

Gliph: Turn Your Digital Identity Into An Ice Cream Cone
Imagine meeting someone for the first time before the era of smartphones and social media. You can’t Google that person or find out where they’re working from their LinkedIn profile. You can’t search for them on Facebook to see if you have friends in common. You can’t text them later to say how wonderful it was to meet up. Instead, you have to let the relationship unravel naturally.

In our hyper-connected lives today, our identities are already available online before we have a chance to get to really know people in the real world. It’s like walking into someone’s house before you even go on a first date. Thanks to a new digital identity app called Gliph, you can go back to the natural way of meeting people by revealing as little or as much information as you want.

Here's a link to the full article.

New Version Now Available on the Mobile Web

Hello folks,

We just released a new version of Gliph onto the mobile web. So you can now run Gliph in any modern web browser, not just using the iPhone or Android apps. I'm replying here, since I don't see a place for the "web app" platform. Please post if there's a better spot to put this!

:) Try out the mobile website
:) Install Gliph the web App from the Chrome

This version has some updates that aren't in the iPhone app quite yet. Here are some of the updates, (you can read the complete update info in our blog entry.:

  • Revised conversation view - We’ve updated the look and feel of the conversation view to use more colorful thought bubbles and provide more friendly date information.
  • Updated Gliph View - Gliph View has been updated with some new visual treatments.
  • Updated Connection Settings - When you click Edit the facets I Share on the revisedGliph View, you’ll see a visual refresh on the Edit Connections page. Besides some better looking sliders, you’ll now get a visual indicator if you have a public facet that is not shared in the connection. What we found was that even if you share your first name publicly on Gliph, and then chose not to share it with a particular connection--it wasn’t obvious that your contact could see it after all. So, a new red glow appears around an off-switch that actually is ‘on’ because it is set as a public facet.
  • Revised Settings Page - The settings page has been slightly re-worked. We now show up front exactly which of your facets are public and which are private. You can then dive deeper to make changes on the Facets and Sharing screen. We found that sometimes we would accidentally toggle one of our Facets publicly. You definitely don’t want to accidentally reveal your phone number, so this change fixes that.We highlight all facets you’ve chosen to share publicly with the same red glow from Connection Settings. This is to further accentuate, “this is public, be careful!” You might also notice that adding new facets is now a more attractive process.

Hey MacRumors Community,

I wanted to say hello again and update you.

I thought some of you would be pumped to hear that we increased the number of free Cloaks that each person gets to three this morning. Here's our blog post about it:

We also just issued an update to our iPhone app that has a minor tweak to the Conversation view:

Hey MacRumors folks,

Today we released GliphMe, a powerful little link for connecting privately with friends and strangers. Watch the demo video here.

You can read more about the feature in our blog entry, or just download the app to try it for yourself. It also works on Android.

Basically, you can create a link which anyone can use to chat with you immediately on your iPhone or iOS device. LifeHacker covered it this morning here.

It is useful in Online Ads, and to take conversations on social networks like Twitter and Facebook private. Here are some examples:

MacRumors,

We released some cool new stuff for Gliph today.

1. We brought bitcoin back to Gliph in the App Store. Now you can send Bitcoin to other Gliph users and also using a QR code scanner.

2. We added secure Group Messaging. Please see previous posts in thread to go over in detail how we handle security and our views on open source.

3. We have a totally revamped Android Application. It is now basically parity with iOS (no PIN lock on it)

4. We added a completely new Desktop Web app to use with gliph. Here's the promo video showing it off:

Uniquely, Gliph hooks up to both Coinbase and Blockchain.info wallets. It allows super easy p2p transfers (between Gliph useres) and spending outside Gliph using QR codes.
