I recently purchased an 8 from the Apple Online Refurbished store, and my experience within a week is that it's very glitchy. I'm looking for input on the source of the problem.

Some thoughts:

1. What I mean by 'glitchy':

- Sometimes I press the home button to wake and nothing happens, which I would presume is sluggishness except a few seconds later the screen flashes on and off a couple of times before staying on.

- I open up texts and the keyboard won't always pop up, so I have to close the app and reopen it.

- My grocery app had groceries on it, but then they disappeared by the time I was at Trader Joe’s --though they were still on my watch that gets its list through my phone?

2. I had an 8 years ago, and it was not glitchy like this. It could absolutely be that the phone, while 'newish', is running on iOS14 now.

3. I usually update annually, so I am fortunate to be accustomed to the latest phone on the latest iOS, so my interpretation right now might be skewed by my experience.

4. Recognizing there are other options I could buy instead, I just really missed and wanted again the little white iPhone with an LCD screen.

5. This phone is for work and it doesn't need to be super fast and perfect, but if it's a lemon, I'd like to exchange it before the 14 days.

I am contacting Apple and off to visit the store in the next couple of days. I'm here now posting because I would appreciate any experience or thoughts from you if you've had glitchy problems like this.

Thanks :)

iPhone 8 shouldn’t be slow to respond to the Home button. Regardless of what some people say, refurbished devices often use salvaged logic boards and other parts, some of which have latent problems. I’d send it back and purchase another unit if possible.

Yes, I've had good luck with stuff from Apple's refurbished selection, and this is the first time I haven't. I hear what you're saying about latent problems and agree best idea might just be return and try again. Thanks for offering your thoughts! :)
