Microsoft competitor Google is in the number four position while processor maker Intel is in seventh place. Apple is shown to be in the eighth position on the list and HP is in the number 10 slot.

I wonder how can MSFT be #3 and AAPL #8 when AAPL is #1 in market cap, MSFT is #3 in market cap and AAPL is #1 in EBITA and is the most beloved world brand.

Does not compute!

Market cap is different that brand name and being well known.

Market Cap is all paper value. A value that can drop over night to nothing. In terms of physical assets, people and markets MSFT is in a hell of a lot more. Apple is in relatively few markets which is a handful of consumer techs.

Lets compare that to MS. MS is the standard for desktop OS. They have had cell phones for a long time. They are the standard default in Enterprise. They have stuff in cars. Game system, the gold standard for a office suit is MS office.

MS is better known.

Brands are not companies, and companies are not their brands.

Globally, Microsoft's brand is still much stronger than Apple's. Especially in developing countries, where Apple hardware is priced way above what the average person can afford, but Microsoft software is easily available on the black market. Even though Microsoft does not profit from those "sales," it still gets name recognition.
