Hi! New here.

I know the glossy laptop screens are discussed quite often at this forum, but as a digital illustrator and designer, I'm trying to find the opinions of the more graphics-oriented crowd and I haven't been able to from just searching around. Could anyone give me some information on color accuracy and contrast in the glossy laptop screens?

Another thing I wonder about is the Cinema displays. I've always thought that CRTs were better than LCDs for true color depth/contrast/accuracy so I was surprised Apple doesn't sell any CRTs. How are the Apple displays in comparison to quality CRTs?

I'm hoping/planning to get a Macbook very soon, and it'll be my first Mac so I'm trying to make sure I know what I'm doing :). I have checked out both of the displays in question at the store, and they look really good (especially the glossy screen, WOW) but it's kind of hard to truly compare/measure things when I'm at the store.

I can say the screen on my MacBook is quite accurate (used gretag macbeth EYEONE for calibration) I have to set the brightness halfway according to the EYEONE and its better than my old LaCie22 CRT where the brightness can't reach the wanted specs no more... and stays a bit blueish so when I do photoshopstuff I allways measure anyway... wich is the right way to do it anyway ;-) but when I open them on the MacBook they allways look right too and stay that way when it goes in printing... dunno about the ACD's but a client uses the apple ACD's (allso combined with the EYEONE) on all the mac's in his graphic design bureau... so I guess they're pretty good...
