Glossy screens starting to bug anyone?

I do think that to a certain extent it will depend on how your machine is oriented relative to the lighting in the room. The way my room is, I get almost no perceptible reflections on the screen at all. It looks gorgeous. That said, I do not discount the problems that some have. My old matte iMac G5 looks drab and lifeless by comparison.
I can see the reflection, but only with dark colors it's sometimes annoying.
But if I dont look at the reflection and ignore it; it doesnt bother me anymore.
So if your looking for it; you will see it. In all other cases the backlight is light enough to ensure a clear picture.
The glossy screen, in my opinion, is the worst aspect of the imac. I do not like it and it might be a deal breaker for me.
My question is: how many people who deal with the glossy screen, would opt for a matte if it is an option? I think many people do their best to ignore the reflections and do adjust to it quite well, but would prefer for no reflections.
Regarding pro photography: You should be able to calibrate the monitor, some hardware works better than others on glossy screens, but that shouldn't stop you. I think the issue is more about reflections from the glass. You do need to consider the work environment. If you have lights or windows behind you, for example, it might be very distracting.
I was in exactly the same boat when I was buying my glossy Unibody MBP from my old one. Don't worry about it. Unless a sun or a window is directly behind you, you won't be bothered at all. The brightness & contrast more than compensates everything else. The mac shops are horrible places to get an opinion on this, there is too much reflection and light everywhere.
I would say if you find yourself to be a person that complains and cries foul over every little detail in life. You will have another item to add to your list of things to b*tch about.

Personally I have adjusted totally but mine is in a low reflective area. I have yet to print any prints to evaluate the color accuracy however a good number of responders have reported success on dpreview.

For print matching you want to set the screen Luminance to around 120 cdm2. I'm not sure if the Spyder3Pro software lets you set a specific value: but I know the Elite version does.
Set your White Point to either D50 (CIExy values 0.346 0.358) or D65 (CIExy values 0.313 0.329). A lot of people will say just use D65, I did at first but later found I preferred D50 (but I'm using an old 17 in Apple Studio LCD monitor ). For gamma use 2.2.

I am still not ruling out an Imac..
I just got the Hp 2475 and it is very good so far.
The glossy screen is not the issue with me.. It's whether I can get prints to match the screen, Yeah I am going to spend $2200 and find out it's not right.. duhh.

I have been watching your discussion on this topic same as Badger had been; and in my own opinion you seem to be writing a lot about nothing when it comes to this.
Just this same it's only my ¢2
