Since other threads seem to devolve into this debate, I thought perhaps it should get its own thread.

Personally, I don't care much. I like the glossy screens, but I understand why people like the matte too. I just think that for a consumer line where most of the purchasers are attracted by the shiny glossy screens, Apple probably doesn't have much incentive to invest in making matte screens and stocking that extra inventory.

The probably figure that the only people who really care about glossy vs matte are professional users who are more likely to get an MBP or an Mac Pro.

No offense: but this subject has been discussed to death.

Many have ranted, and raved - we don't need another thread of the same.

Yeah, not trying to be rude...but this topic has been beaten so far in to the ground (as you acknowledged).

It's a no-win fight that just goes back and forth...

aww but its fun to have a spirited debate!! personally i like both i like the shininess of the glossy but the regularness of the matte

Oh, I agree 100%, my only point is that this debate shouldn't go into threads about other topics. My hope was that people would stop interjecting the debate into unrelated threads. I'm tired of having to scroll through post after post on this awful topic just to get to the posts that have anything to do with the actual topic of the thread in question.

I have a brother named Matt, so I guess I'll go with that...

Just kidding! I have only played around with the glossy in the stores and haven't seen a matte

BUT

I think if there were a choice I would go with matte and here is why. When I was shopping around for TV's one of my main decision factors was the screen surface. I liked the picture of a plasma a lot, but I liked the viewing angle and reduced glare of the LCD. At the end of the day, I chose the LCD and I love it.

I'm sure I would be happy with a matte option iMac. Having said all of that, I plan to get an iMac in the next couple weeks and I know it will be glossy.

Oi. Ryanb1281, please do a search before creating a new thread. There have been umpteen glossy vs. matte threads created already.
