Purely a cosmetic issue, but I really think they should make the Apple logo on the back of iMacs a glowing white one like it is on the MacBooks. This wasn't much of an issue before when the iMacs had black plastic for their backs, but now that it's an aluminum unibody, the silver back looks exactly like a MacBook Pro's lid, and a glowing white Apple on it would simply rock. Much better than the plain black Apple we have going on now.

Now I understand that as a desktop, a lot of us position our iMacs with its back to the wall, but there are also quite a few of us that don't, especially those who use iMacs at work. Couldn't hurt to add a white LED and make the Apple glow.

The Apple on the front below the display should still be black though, IMHO.

The MacBook and MacBook Pro Apple logos are lit from the screen backlighting. The iMac has a bunch of components between the screen and the back so they would have to add an additional lighting system to make it glow which would unnecessarily add complication to something that no one cares about.

I think the black Apple logo looks fine. I mean you never really see the back of it, do it doesn't matter. Also, I'd have to agree with the person who posted above me, it would actually make the machine bigger. Since right now there's an HDD in the Apple Logo place.

Besides, I think that it looks fine as it is right now. The glowing Apple logo would just be a extra addon that people wouldn't even notice.

You yourself can't see the white Apple on the MacBooks either, but other people can, and that's the whole point of it, a cool factor to show off.

While the percentage is few, I know some people who position their iMacs so that the back is in plain view. This is common in work environments and people who have iMacs in their living rooms as a family computer.

Like I said in the original post, from a purely cosmetic standpoint, a glowing white Apple seems to be better. Technical aspects are another issue.

You're more likely to see the back of a macbook than the back of an imac due to the nature of each products usage. Yea it would look cool but its pretty apparent why they didn't do it.
