Gmail accidentally resetting accounts

I just came across this engadget article: Gmail accidentally resetting accounts, years of correspondence vanish into the cloud?

and it's kinda scary. Maybe this is a downside to the cloud? Starting local remote backup now...

The same article also mentions the percentage of users affected was less than 0.29% and that their deleted/ missing data will be restored ASAP.

Not really shocking/ news worthy/ important IMO.

Now I have finally found an advantage of cloud computing: "you are screwed" gets replaced by "vanish into the cloud". At least you get screwed poetically:-D

I'd be shocked if their data wasn't 100% restored. Flickr had a recent incident like this.
