Hey all:

I have a Mac Mini running Sequoia 15.5, and I cannot for the life of me solve this one. I am using the default Mail app with my Gmail account, and it was working fine until recently. Now the client receives emails, but is unable to send them, with the outbound server labeled as offline. I’ve narrowed it down to the Mail app itself, and not the Gmail service or my account because when using the Gmail website, I can send messages just fine.

What I’ve tried so far: Restarted the computer; Rebuilt Mail database; Removed my Gmail account from Internet Accounts in System Settings and re-added it; Used custom outbound settings with Gmail’s SMTP and IMAP settings in the Mail app; Used several different DNS servers.

I don’t have a VPN or any sort of network settings, and I have even moved the Mini to a family member’s house just to see if there was something wrong with my network configuration, but I still receive the same error. Is there any way to restore my outbound email functionality?

It sounds like you've already taken some solid troubleshooting steps regarding your Mail app issue on your Mac Mini. Since you've ruled out network issues and the Gmail service itself, here is another suggestion that might help you resolve the problem with the outgoing mail server:

Open Mail, then go to Mail -> Preferences

Click on the Accounts tab, select your Gmail account, and ensure that the "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" is set correctly to the Gmail SMTP server (`smtp.gmail.com`).

In the same Accounts tab, click on the Server Settings for your Gmail account.

Ensure the following settings are configured: Outgoing Mail Server: `smtp.gmail.com`

Use SSL: Checked

Authentication: Password
User Name: Your full Gmail address.
Password: Your Gmail account password or an app-specific password if you have two-factor authentication enabled.

Above is a list from my Addressbook from FREE email test addresses....
Just send an email to one of the addresses with just “test” or similar and if all is alright, your email is on the way and a reply with the full path of the mail returned... saves friends and family to contact to send you an email for testing....
