GMail and Messenger

Hey I'm new to Gmail and I got my Passport.NET account set up to use it through messenger. Problem is that it won't let me sign in or anything. In fact what it's doing is overloading my broadband internet leaving me to have to go reset the router. Any help here would be awesome, I'm using the newest version of Mac Messenger, System 10.3.9, and 256 RAM, if that has anything to do with it.

First of all, don't use Messenger, try Adium or aMSN.

Try Proteus not sure if it has GTalk...but it supports the rest...
