iPhone Gmail app not deleting emails from lock screen

This has been going on for awhile. My gmail app no longer deletes the email when hard pressing the notification and selecting delete. It acts like it deletes but when I go into the gmail app the message will still be there. I'm using an iPhone X.

Anyone else having this issue?
