I've used the stock Apple Mail app for years now, but I recently explored the Gmail app and really like what they've done with it. I want to use it as my main mail app but a few things still bother me:

  • The signature is added to the end of the entire email chain in a reply (Apple Mail adds the signature to the end of the reply).
  • I want to use the Gmail mail app as the default mail program (kind of like BrowserChooser allows you to replace Safari as the default browser).
Does anyone know if there are tweaks that allow these things to happen? Is there a Cydia request forum/website where I can formally request this?

Thanks!

Search Cydia for "Make Gmail as default," and that'll easily take care of making Gmail the default mail app.

As for the signature tweak, nothing I know of can do that. Maybe submit feedback to Google about it? After all, that's still technically a "lab" on the web interface (oddly enough).

Have you gotten make gmail as Default to work? It didn't seem to do anything for me.

I've set up all 3 gmail accounts I use in the app, but kept each account set up on the iphone in settings with only manual fetching of emails, no notifications, etc. This allows me to send an email from those accounts through any app but I'm still checking my email through the gmail app. It's pretty seamless.
