Although I strictly use a verizon.net POP account for my mail on both my MB and iPhone, I decided to add on a Gmail account. Once I'd set it up, I found that on my MB--because I wanted my Gmails sent to me via the Mail app.--I was no longer able to access my POP mail (was it because the IMAP and POP were in conflict in some way)? And on my phone I wasn't able to access my Gmail, save through Google's own application.

There must be a way to have both on the same device, and though I followed the instructions on Gmail's website, I'm having no luck.

Any suggestions?

Okay, well, I managed to get both accounts on my iPhone, but can I access both through the Mail application on my MacBook? That was a problem earlier, and I'm wondering if there is a conflict in having a POP and an IMAP account on the same application.

No, you can have multiple POP and IMAP accounts in Mail.app just fine. If one account is being slow, it could lock up Mail.app so it seems like neither are working. Make sure you've enabled IMAP in gmail's settings. Make sure you have both accounts activated in Mail.app. It's possible to have multiple accounts and have one or more turned off.

That makes sense. I have Mail checking my POP account every minute (no, I'm not obsessive, but this is how I conduct most of my business), so that would account for the lock.

Thanks for the tip!
