Hello all,

I just received a brand new iPhone for Christmas! I'm very excited but have not yet been able to load Gmail on my phone. When I first went to set up my phone, I put in my gmail address and password and then tried to connect to gmail. I got a message saying that it couldn't connect and the phone asked me if I wanted to connect using SSL. I didn't know what this was so I hit no. Now, when I open Mail, it defaults to my Gmail account but it can't access my email and I get a message saying "Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server "imap.gmail.com" failed." I have working access to my Gmail account from my iTouch, so I don't see why there is a problem. I also ensure that in my gmail account IMAP is enabled. I think I just need to delete this gmail account and enter it again and try to reconnect. There seems to have been some sort of blip when I tried to connect, but I don't know how to do this. When I open the mail tab, it takes me directly into the non-working gmail account. Would really like to have my iPhone up and running ASAP. Please please advise!!!

Happy Holidays,
Brittany

Yes, but even if I didn't, how could I check that now? How do I get back to that original screen where I put in my email address and password? Now it just takes me directly into my inbox, which has nothing.

NEVER MIND!!! I went into Settings and deleted my email account and then re-entered it and there was no problem! There was some sort of glitch when I set it up the first time, just as suspected. Thanks!
