gmail plugin for Apple Mail

At the moment a hack like httpmail doesn't seem to exist. However, you have got options like Gmail Status, which will provide you with a menubar update on the status of your account and a short cut to your inbox. gCount provides something similar. Not the full mail.app integration you're looking for but still pretty handy nonetheless

No one but Google knows if they will offer POP or IMAP support, paid or free. Also, I don't see any ads yet in my Gmail box....Just wait until they officially launch Gmail.

I think that Google can make it free by placing text ads in the emails themselves above the fold.
