It's happening a lot these days - someone will send me an e-mail, both of us using Gmail, and I'll receive it... Between 15 minutes to an hour later.

Is anyone else getting this? I Googled the problem, and I found a few more complaints of it, but the help thread I found said it was sorted... It just isn't.

It also sometimes decides to screw up the layout of e-mails I send so they look something like this:
Hi>>>>>>>>>>h>>>>>o>>>.445:32>>>>>>>>y>>>ou?>><foo>>>>

Seriously considering dumping Gmail if I can't get this sorted.

Are you using imap or the exchange setup ie push? I have noticed since I went to exchange it has been pretty spotty here lately. Not all the time but there are times I won't get a thing and then three or four hours later my email will go insane. It didn't do this under imap just since I moved it to the exchange setup.

Is this happening on your phone, or your computer.

I've been getting/sending emails from gmail today and I've not noticed any delays or problems

The delays happen whether I use the computer (I use the web client on my browser), or whether I use IMAP on my iPhone's Mail app.

The formatting problems only seem to happen on my phone from what I've noticed.

Both of these problems also occur for my friend who uses an iPod touch for her Gmail account.

I just finished running a test to my gmail account this morning and found no such delays or problems, both on my computer and my phone.

Weird. It dosen't happen all the time, just randomly. Next time you get a message, take a look at when it says it was sent compared to the current time. Maybe you just haven't noticed it.

But, say, when I'm on the web client, I'll get e-mails from one person just fine, then I'll suddenly get an unread message from another conversation with someone else, even though it's still further down in the inbox, and I'll open it to see that this "new" message was sent 18 minutes ago

Will do, part of the problem, I suppose is that my gmail account is not my main email and while I do have it on my phone, saying that activity is light is an understatement,i.e., I don't get many gmail emails. Irregardless I'll keep an eye on it.
