Gmail won't work on my iPad

I set my gmail the same way I did on my iPhone which is wiring fine but when I set up the email on my ipad it won't work I know it detected it cuz it gave me all check marks when I set up plus it detected the sub email I have under gmail. The only thing it does Is it seems as if it's trying to retrieve my emails but nothing shoes up

Use the Gmail app.

I don't want to result to that method unless I need to I wanna know why its not working on the native mail app plus the gmail app is only for iPhone which looks crappy on the iPad

What? I will be highly upset if I have to use the app. I think something may just be wrong with yours, there should be no reason why it won't work. What is it saying? Have you TRIPPLE checked your username and password?

GMail works fine for me with both Mail.app and the web site.

I checked it more than once it's fine the only thing it says "checking for mail"

May just be a single google server problem. I would try again in an hour or so.

I setup my gmail through the exchange option, and it worked great for me. Calendars synced well, contacts came in right away, and gmail works perfectly.

I tried doing it through exchange but it'd my first time doing it so I'm not sure what goes in the fields can you tell me what you put there

May just be a single google server problem. I would try again in an hour or so.

Take a look on Google's website - follow the directions for the iPhone setup (there's a few steps that need to be followed in order versus just putting all the info into the boxes).

And have you seen the gmail interface for the ipad? Not the same as the one for the iphone.

I'm writing this from my iPad I also tried exchange but no luck the set up went fine but still "checking for mail"

Problem solved turns out all I needed to do is restart it the mail on this things the sh**
