Used to have a hack back in the day when I was on v1.4 that allowed you to set double-tap home to display the keypad. I lost it while upgrading to 2.0, and can't remember what it was called... Anyone remember? And what repository it's on?

Supreme Preferences will do the trick. After you install it go into settings>General>Home Button; Here you have dozens of things you can put for double clicking the home button

what would the point of that be?

What wouldn't be the point? I mean its all about customization and preference. I have my double tap to go to the dial pad as well and even though one may think its no big deal, I do:) Technology is all about options, why not have them available?

I mean why would you want to bring up the keyboard when any app needing it, simply has a touch screen button to bring it up?

I think what would be even cooler is if you double tapped the home screen and like the helio. You can search google by just typing. It would also search contacts and apps. Like quick gold. If quick gold searched the web to. It would be sweet!

it's the keypad, or dial pad i want to have faster access to. just a personal preference thats all. like to have the thing that makes the device a phone one (two) clicks away
