Today and tomorrow, GOG is giving away Fallout 1 & 2 & Fallout Tactics for FREE! These are for both Mac & Windows!

Thanks, GOG!

Of course, their servers are overwhelmed...but don't worry, I came here right after getting mine, so that will be one less person trying to load the same page ;)

Yea, I already had Fallout 1 and 2 so I got a free game today in Fallout Tactics :)

These boys really know how to run a games website.

Yeah, I got that email today. I have downloaded so many free or inexpensive games from GOG. I haven't even looked at some of them, yet.

I've played through both FO1 & FO2 probably 2 or 3 times each on PC but looking forward to doing so again now. Well done GoG.....top jesture :)

This was a pleasant surprise but I'm currently unable to complete the transaction to add it to my library where the server is overloaded. Persistence will pay off though with a copy of Fallout Tactics. I had the first two games already from there.

This is sweet where I had Fallout Tactics on my wish list there. :D

Now they need to get all things Might and Magic fixed up for OS X. I imagine they will in time.

It is also awesome that they are taking care of the Mac ports for so many games - playing Divine Divinity, Wizardry 8 and just realized they had done Fallout Tactics as well!

Sure I know these are just Wine wrappers, but everything works just like on the PC versions, which is great.

Hm...not everything. The "Witcher" that GOG offers for Mac is also a wrapper. I would expect to work flawlessly since it is a pretty old game, so not demanding at all. But it isn't. It crashes all the time, and when it doesn't, it behaves strangely.

All in all, games offered for Mac at GOG are like a lottery.

I'm pretty sure that's the same wrapper that Steam distributes the Witcher with also. Framerates jump all over the place, from super smooth (50+) to what has to be something less than 10 whenever something shiny or foggy appears on screen. Deemed it unplayable during the opening sequence of play, haven't played it since.

Yes, that was my experience too. I managed to bear it up to chapter 2. Then it crashed again, for about the 10th time, and that was it.

GOG is a great source of some classic games, Thief 1 & 2 are on my wishlist. I was about to treat myself to Fallout 2 for Christmas too, I'm glad I waited!

Man, their sale is like crack...just came back from another purchase...their gift boxes have been pretty good, the ones where you make a choice and a "surprise" gift offers you something for about US$2.50...two out of three so far have been on my wishlist.

I find myself re-purchasing stuff I had on Steam, but that I can get totally DRM-free & fully downloadable. I have had great success taking old Windows games and installing them on my Mac via WINE (like Planescape: Torment, & a couple others).
