GoG.com has kicked off their summer sale, with lots of great titles for mac users. There are bonus games given for spending certain amounts which include Simcity 2000, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky.

Some titles I would spotlight during the sale include:

Risen (for open world lovers)
Guacamelee!
Saint's Row the Third
The Witcher 2
Shadowrun
Legend of Grimmrock

What do others recommend?

I bought Witcher and Witcher 2, since I have Witcher 3. I paid $4.49 for them together. I'll prolly pick up some more titles.

I just bought Fract OSC and received a code for a free copy of SimCity 2000 Special Edition. Which I already have in my collection. So, if anybody is interested, here's the free code for the first person to grab:

Grabbed it thank you very much for that :)

Saints Row 2 is good also. I played a bit of that not too long ago, maybe a dozen hours or so and want to get back to it at some point. It looks good too for its age. For anyone not aware, the port was problematic and it is important to get and install the "Gentlemen of the Row" mod and then you are good to go. It ran just great for me with that installed. I had no problems at all.

I need to lay off the sales until I clear a whole lot more backlog myself. I don't plan to buy anything this summer and probably not in the fall and winter seasonal sales either. I do window shop though and consider adding things to the wish list during these. I find the key for me personally is to keep reminding myself, this will be on sale again later and probably even cheaper (depending on the game and its age of course) so I do not need to be buying anything I won't even play until next year.

Just a little word of caution from a recovering compulsive shopper.

That said, for RPG fans the deal they had on all three Infinity Engine remakes (not sure if that was a timed one or not) is a steal for hundreds of hours of classic D&D RPG fun. I'd love to pick those up DRM-free but as I said, I'll wait. I am so hopeful they do Planescape Torment and the BG game they are working on turns out really well.

Just picked up The Fall. Looks to be right up my alley.

I hate these Steam/GOG sales because my queue only seems to get bigger.

Yeah, I know this first-world problem with unplayed games I bought during some sale. But then, I try to look at this in short historical context.

A few years ago, when fast internet was something like 56k and games costed about 50$, I bought at least one or two magazines simply because of the included CD-ROM with some game demos. Just to try some game and get an idea if I should buy one of demos as an expensive full game. These magazines and the few games I actually bought per year usually amounted to much more expenses than most of the sales tody.

So basically, I don't see my not-yet-played-games-queue as an obligation. It's simply a list of demos I have not tried yet with the option to play the full game for free because I already bought it.

Ahh, I miss those days. Though there are plenty of merits to the constant stream of news we get today, it just doesn't quite replace that one special day when you'd get your magazine in the mail, sporting a bevvy of previews of cool new games, and a CD loaded down with all kinds of features and demos. Sometimes, you'd even get a full game completely unexpected. It was like having a bunch of little Christmases 12 times a year.

So, GOG sale? I just got through buying the entire Broken Sword series, and Ys: Ark of Nephiphiphi...something.

I bought the bundle of Deus Ex and Invisible War. I have the former on Steam but like to support GOG whenever I can. As such, here's a code for Sim City 2000:

Enjoy.

Xenonauts (an X-Com like Indie) free key - JTFA6F686828D9 (win only)

Have fun.
