Going crazy with my Clear.com WIFI signal

I am trying to simplify my life by switching to Clear G4 internet.

I bought their refurbished Home Modem (has no WIFI) and connected it via ethernet cable to a Netgear WIFI modem/router.

My Imac has very good connection up to 7 or even 10MBPS, but both laptops: MAcBook and new MacAir WIFI performance is very spotty and unstable. It is the WIFI signal that I am concerned about, but once connected to Wifi the G4 signal also varies quite a bit.

All computers are on the same desk, so there should not be any difference in reaching the WIFI signal.

Can anyone explain what is going on?

Go to a library coffe shop or somewhere with wifi that isn't yours and test your strength it may be your router however it could be your airport card and a simple call to apple or genius visit should take care of it.

Move any other cordless/wireless/motored devices away and try changing the broadcasting channel of the Wi-Fi router. Also, check if there's a "signal range" setting, as I've got that setting on my Clear 4G iSpot device.

I had a similar experience with my AIR as have many many others. Do a search on "macbook air wifi" and you will find lots of complaints.

From my experience its a problem with wifi channels... if a router is not set to a specific channel the connection will constantly drop all day and your wifi will feel incredibly slow.

Try different wifi channels on your router. This fixed the problem for me.

If you are using a a public network and can't change the channel try turning off bluetooth and see if it gets better. I have read some reports that the two signals conflict when certain wifi channels are used.

I had this problem for months on my office network. I was forced to use my USB ethernet adapter as the computer was unusable. I finally convinced the network guy to switch the channel and it was like night and day!
