Just a quick one, might have been addressed already but upgrading to 18.1 for AI is intriguing for me, currently iOS 18 Beta. However, when the iPhone 16 gets released which should be shipped with iOS 18, how will it work in terms of transferring my phone over from 18.1 to the iphone 16? Would I need to update the phone to the latest beta at that time and then do the transfer if that's even possible?

Yes. You'd either update on a computer using the IPSW or set up the phone as new, install update, reset device to factory default once updated and then proceed through setup. 18.1 Beta will not restore to 18.0 on iPhone 16.

Also, be careful if you plan on getting your iPhone 16 on launch day: I remember in the past there was a situation where a newly released iPhone didn't get a beta build until the day after. So if you got it on launch day, you were unable to restore from the backup. I don't remember what year that was, but I clearly remember it.

Apple now detects if you are running beta software on your existing phone and offers to update your new phone to that beta before moving your data over from your current phone.

Seamless and easy.
