I recently got a 2017 27" iMac (40gb / 2TB) to replace my 2007 iMac (6gb / 2TB), plus the latest version of Logic Pro X and MainStage 3.

I've never used Logic - but hope to be start learning it in earnest this weekend.

All my music is in GarageBand '11 (ver. 6.0.5 - which presently works in Mojave) but that's going to change this fall. Thus, I got to make the move from GB to LPX.

MY QUESTIONS...
  1. My understanding is that Logic will directly open GB files, but does that include GB11?
  2. If not, is there a work-around of any kind? (My concern is if I have to first open in GB ver 10 some effects or settings may be lost.)
  3. Will Logic retain the effects settings, etc. I had for software instruments and live tracks?
  4. What's the best source for learning the transition from GB to Logic? (YouTube is full of videos that vary in quality - some dated, and PluralSight, et. al. have rather lengthy, in-depth programs not exactly targeted to users like me.)
  5. What surprises and gotchas (and outright disappointments) should I prepare for? I'm making sure to import all prior instruments and effects, plus I've installed Main Stage 3 (which has all the original Jam Packs).
I need to get going with this as Catalina (Mac OS 10.15) won't support Garage Band '11 (according to a message that appears when I launch it in Mojave). Further, from what I've read even the current version of GarageBand lacks some of the features and flexibility of GB11, so I'd rather move up than try to stay with GB.

Thank you.

PS: Virtual Bonus Points to anyone who can point me to a good Yamaha-TX81Z/DX11/V50 compatible 4-OP FM synth emulator that'll work well with Logic. (Note: 6-OP emulators aka DX7 aren't directly compatible with the 4-OPs.)
