I have an m1 11 inch iPad Pro. I don’t really use the pro features. I use it light browsing, reading, Netflix watching, light digital planning in GoodNotes, and maybe light gaming (word games and candy crush type). Would you downgrade to the base model?

I know it doesn’t have the bells and whistles as the higher end models. But will it last me for my needs for 3-4 years? I also am not a huge fan of the old design but am sure I could get used to it. I also have a mini 6.

Anyone make this change? Looking for any opinions.

I made a similar switch and absolutely love my 9th gen iPad (paired with the Logitech Combo Touch which I also heartily recommend if you’re into the [detachable] keyboard/trackpad/kickstand thing). The display, design, and speakers all might seem a bit below par for a while but eventually you’ll hopefully acclimate and enjoy the device for what it is: capable, simple, and affordable. As for support, I’d think it would be good for several years to come since the device was only released last year.

You would lose a lot of money by selling pro then buy a new base iPad, except you are still in free return time period. Pro has better screen for sure, but not a lot. You cannot feel the speed different for these kind of tasks.

If you want to downgrade but love the Pro form factor, the iPad Air 5 sounds like a good buy and it's $200 USD cheaper too.

Apple also sells a refurbished iPad Air 4 for $469 USD. It's previous gen but still has better specs (A14/4gb ram) than the 9th gen base model (A13/3gb ram) so it can last longer.

That seems counterproductive, since you already have the 11 Pro and will lose money on trading it. The best you can do is a straight trade, essentially.
