Going from windows laptop to Retina Macbook pro , need some advice

Hello!

I´m selling my windows laptop and buying a macbook pro.

Due to my budget , im stuck between:

Macbook Pro 15´ late 2013 with Dual Graphics.

Macbook Pro 15´2015 com Intel Iris Graphics

(both with 16gb of RAM)

The computer will be used to edit photos (lightroom and photoshop) , coding and some light gaming ( WoW and Hearthstone for example).

I am quite undecided between the older model with graphics card or the latest model without. What do you think is worth it?

Do you think I should up the budget and invest in the 2015 model with graphic or it isnt justified for my use?

Isn’t a 2 years newer processor and better trackpad worth it over a graphics card that is only half a Gb better than the 2015 model?

So I’d stick with the 2015. Also it has hardware support with Apple, (less likely to be EOL soon), Better CPU, faster flash storage, etc.

Also it’s far more likely to be reliable. The logic board failure rate of MacBook Pros with a dGPU, regardless of which model/year, is considerably higher than ones with an iGPU.

I think the 2015 model with integrated graphics is a better choice and even though integrated graphics is not that good , I think it will be enough for what I’m planning to do.

Yeah, get the 2015. It is a newer machine. They both use Haswell processors, but the 2015 is clocked a bit higher. Also, the GT750M dGPU in the 2013 is not hugely better than the Intel Iris Pro graphics in the 2015. And it won’t make a difference in photo editing although it would have the edge in gaming.

Get a 2015 15" with dual graphics. It will only cost you a couple hundred more and be well worth it if you intend to do the slightest bit of gaming on it.

I see a lot of 2015 15 MBPs for sale in my local area and the specs are all over the place. If you can wait to get the machine, just monitor your local market until something comes up for sale in your price range with the right specs. If you want to game, you really want a discrete GPU. The 2014 15 MBP may also be an option for you.

People sell laptops for all kinds of reasons and some people care a lot about the price they get for it and some people don't care that much. Businesses dispose of them too and they may care less as they've expensed them to some degree.

If you are on a budget, I’d recommend you to stay on windows. There is nothing a 4-5 year old MBP would do better than a contemporary gaming laptop.
