Going On Holiday With My iPhone

Hey guys,

I will be going on holiday with my iPhone in a few weeks and obviously I want to take my iPhone with me and of course I don't want to run up any insane bills.

What shall I enable/disable to make sure I do not run up any nasty bills? Data roaming is already set to off and I will turn off 3G before I go (just incase ) should I turn off location services? Is there anything else?

I guess push (fetch new data) should also be should be turned off. That's all I can think off. Can also have a chat with the phone company to make sure everything is covered off.

Also, if going on holiday with the phone, pack protection ....

You'll probably want to completely turn airplane mode off when you're not using it (or even take the sim card out).

Also, you might want to look into some of their international plans if you do plan on using your phone. Some companies will prorate the monthly fee, so if you only use it for a week, you won't get charged a full month.

4) turn off push, and just in case change fetch to manually, and in advance fetch change all your emails to manual

5) turn calender new invitation alerts off (not sure about that)

6) remove mail from the dock and put it in the 3rd or 4th page in you iphone

These are good points. 3G on is safe in my opinion too. How do you actually remove mail from the dock though?

Is that to remove the temptation to open it (as I do) incurring data charges each time it's clicked?

Its under settings>mail, contacts, calendar... then under fetch new data.

The same way you move around your applications (with your finger press on any application for few seconds). It is not about temptation, it is more about not clicking it by mistake, as by default it is near the phone icon.
