Okay... So I've set up a genius appointment set for tomorow. How thoroughly will they probe my 3rd gen iPod?

The reason I ask is I used it for jogging and I'm pretty sure sweat got in there, and once while walking back to the car, it suddenly poured rain so I have no doubt the water sensor is tripped.

Problems due to this:

1) iPod never shows fully charged symbol on iTunes, and can't hold a charge if I leave it unplugged (not in use however) for more than a day or two.

2) iPod takes two or three togglings of the on switch before it actually responds.

Any way I can save myself here? I would really like to replace it... Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would say to just go to the appointment and see what happens. The worst outcome would be that the genius sees a tripped water sensor and wont replace the unit under warranty. It's not like they take it away from you, you'll still have the shuffle and then can decide if you want to buy a new one to replace it with.

I know its not quite the same but when I took my Iphone into them, they used like an ear microscope thingy to look at the water sensors. I would say they check them over very well.

Best bet is not to mention it unless they spot the damage then explain what happend. Sometimes you get a genius that is just in a good mood and replaces things anyway.

I usually find people are lost on what to say to a Genius when they're looking for a way to lie. Take the above poster's advice I guess, if you insist on playing dumb about how your shuffle broke.

yup i jailbroke my touch and it became unresponsive and i just played dumb till they replaced it. i probably could have fixed it myself but couldnt work out how.

Yuhuh.

Seconded.

If there's no tripped water sensors then fair enough. If they find one then look on the bright side, a Shuffle costs very little.
