In the coming weeks, I'll have the opportunity to build a computer case. I've been brainstorming and have come up with the following ideas.

The Apple

This would be a large Apple shaped case. Below are some really bad concept pics but you should get the idea. The case would be modeled after the 5th ave hanging apple logo:

The sides would be plastic and will give life to the case by lighting up (like all the other apple logos).

In order to easily make the guts, I'd probably have to design a odd shape but I think I should be able to hide that with a thin sheet of metal (like cheese grater/mac pro for airflow) going around the apple.

The leaf part would house a thin slot-loading DVD writer, as seen above.

Which do you think I should try building? In the end, I'll probably end up selling it on eBay (the apple will probably gather me more money, eh?) so I'll get pretty high performance parts for it (quad core, 4gb ram, etc etc)

Decided on building the Apple logo one! I'll post updates as they come. I'll probably start by purchasing parts this week and making the inside which holds the parts.

The apple would be an amazing custom case if it came out well. Go for it! I wouldn't even know where to begin making something like that. Good luck! :)

why u do not consider to build a classic cube, if you got access to the plastics? the apple thing seems very time-comsuming and hard to follow.
good work

Just a small update. A group of buddies and I started out the outline and such. Tomorrow I'll be outlining the actual apple shape.

Overall, it'll be around 25" x 25" x 7-8"

"he said he was going to use quad core processors, so that means Mac Pro logic board, so he is probably making it pretty big."

I think I'm going to stick with PC parts mainly because I do not want to spend the money on a Mac Pro for the parts. Nonetheless, I'll try to get a c2quad to make it a beast.
