Make sure you have all of you equipment padlocked to your body. Europe is bad news for getting gear stolen.

Depends on where he was going. London and Dublin you wouldnt need any more secutiry carrying it around then you would here. But italy, padlocks may not be a bad idea.

Excuse me! Having spent half my life in Italy and half in the UK I can assure that as regards theft the UK takes the gold medal. Try as they might no other nation can challenge us in car theft for example.

Italy is far far safer on the street than the UK full stop. Alchohol fuelled violence is very common in most town centres on friday and saturday nights and arguments escalate quickly into physical attack.

You're going to need one of the faster 15" PowerBooks, or a 15" PowerBook and run Aperture under Rosetta. I don't think either is a perfect solution, but if you need to bring a 5D along, yeah you'd need a place to offload those photos.

Aperture doesn't work under Rosetta.

I only spent a few days in either city and those were just my impressions. I had some friends though(that were girls) go to Italy and was one was physically groped by an italian male. And then in Paris they were harrassed constantly on the subway.

I dont know anything about cameras but I was in Europe recently London and Paris. I didnt have ANY problems in either city with ANY issue at all. People in London are EXTREMELY FRIENDLY in my experience. Paris has AMAZING FOOD and sights and shopping. I enjoyed both places alot and I want go back ASAP. Enjoy your time.
