So i have been using the new iPad 10.2 for about a week now. Here are some of the impression that i have:

1. The screen is 10.2 inch. Even if it seems very small increase from 9.7inch iPad, it is still seems a lot bigger than the 9.5“ screen. It is the biggest advantage over the 9.7. Microsoft Office are just better on bigger screen.

2. 3GB RAM is definitely helping. There are lesser of app refresh than the 2GB on the last year model. So if you are looking for a budget iPad for little multitasking, you won‘t be disappointed.

3. I don’t see much speed difference between the iPad 10.2 and 2018 iPad. However, some users are reporting better gaming experience with new iPad 10.2. I am not a gamer, so I really don’t care and won’t able to comment on gaming experience.

4. To be, all i need for this iPad is for office editing and annotating on the notes. PDF reading and internet browsing.

So for me, even 10.2 seems better for all my work load, I still decided to return the 10.2 iPad. It is just not much of upgrade comparing with the 2018 iPad. I already have the 9.5 iPad Pro, iPad mini 5 and the 12.9 inch iPad Pro 3rd generation. The 10.2 iPad offers very little justification for me to Upgrade.

However, if you are coming from the iPad 5 or earlier, i think you are definitely going to be benefited from the 10.2 iPad. If you are in the quest of finding the absolutely cheapest iPad possible, then i think the refurbished 2018 iPad is good buy as well.

The new 10.2 is not for people who already have iPads at every size (small, medium, large), especially last year’s pro. Not sure what you were expecting. Thanks for the little review tho.

I brought it more or less intended for keeping it and selling the 2018 iPad. After a week of using it, I think I would just keep the 2018 iPad and waiting for 2020 iPad update and see what happening.

Nice review of experiences. I'd only add that based on my experience and other users who also have the iPad 5, it's still not worth upgrading from 5 to 7. 5 and 6 performance is very similar despite the processor difference. Granted, 5 performance may be more apparent with future releases of IOS, but by then the iPad 8 will likely be available and worth that upgrade at that time.

Yeah, I think it's pretty obvious that the 7th gen isn't really worthwhile coming from a 6th gen.
half an inch more display and slightly better multitasking is not worth over $300. Maybe if they had at least put an A11 in it.

Why do you have the 2018 9.7 if you already had the 9.7 pro? They are basically the same size, similar speed (with some advantages for the 9.7 like speakers, screen, camera etc.)

Because i like Smart Keyboard, so I was using iPad Pro 9.7 as my primary iPad until I got the 12.9 iPad Pro. 9.7 iPad is for wife and family use.

I just upgraded from my iPad 5 to the iPad 10.2 and its pretty good. I had the 10.5 about a year or two ago and traded it in, honestly wish that I had kept it but I feel like it would’ve been out of date by now.
