Now the S6 comes in a more conventional gold tone, I wonder if we’ll see some decent link bracelet options.

I wear a genuine black link bracelet with SS S5 gold but have a always wanted all gold but nothing really matches.

The only half decent option I can see so far is - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284003547531

Any others spotted would be very welcome.

As the new Gold is said to be a more yellow gold that looks close(r) to the original Apple Watch Edition 18kt Yellow Gold, that will hopefully make it easier for third-parties to match the color.

oh man, I sure hope so. The SS 4 and 5”gold” versions were more like bronze. I’m surprised Apple never released a real gold toned version to begin with. I haven’t seen any close pics or videos that showcase it, so I’m holding off ordering for now.

I'm finally getting the gold SS this year b/c this band looks awesome and the links are easy to remove... I have been looking for a good two-toned link band since 2015.....and I finally found it. I wear it for everything - even exercising and it works great!

That they did not release one for the Series 5 Gold model, I am guessing they don't see enough of a market for it.

Then again, they didn't release an 18kt gold one for the Series 0 Edition watches, either (at least publicly - some celebrities / influencers were given such a band with their Edition watches).

As @CWallace mentioned above, certain “influencers” back in 2015 were sent gold Apple Watch Editions. These watches came with a gold plated link bracelet, and it’s a stunning look.

I’ve been curious with the idea of buying a new silver link bracelet and gold plating it yourself though. Depending on how much you want the look, it might be a good option.

I have an Apple silver link band and now that I have the Series 6 Gold SS I'm thinking of asking my local jeweler how much it will cost to gold plate my band....

Do it! IIRC gold plating that big of a surface area is around $150 in gold and maybe another $75 in labor, but of course that all depends on how thick of a coat and how many links you get plated.

I have a tiny wrist - so they had to reverse engineer Apple removal mechanism because I needed more links removed than the band allowed. I'm going to give them a call to see what they say tomorrow. I will report back...

You can buy extra links from Apple... I think it’s $10 per link.

Their issue was they needed less links than the band was designed to allow to be removed. :)

Interested to see how the plating looks if you go forward. I could buy an OEM SS link from chargerstore on eBay for a fair bit less than MSRP and have it plated.

I bought my SS Series 5 gold plated from eBay and paid about $900. They didn’t do that great of a job, so I polished it off. I bought a gold plating kit off Etsy and I couldn’t get it to work.

Regarding getting your watch gold plated, I went to my city’s jewelry district and found a place, but they were going to charge $400, which I thought was too much. Maybe other places would be cheaper, but it’s a risky procedure regardless because the Apple Watch is an electronic device and in order to electroplate it, it’s got to be bathed several times in different solutions.

I finally went to the Apple store the other day to check out the new gold SS watch, and it honestly isn’t all that “goldy”. It’s more subtle, but under some light, it doesn’t look gold at all. Maybe some people would like it, but personally, if I want a gold watch, I want it to look like yellow gold - not the bronze “gold” of the previous generations or the “subtle gold” now. It probably won’t match with any third party gold bracelets you can find in Amazon or eBay. Those are generally pretty yellow.

I wonder why Apple never made a SS version that’s like really yellow gold. I’m sure it has to do with the fact that if they did, it would kill Rolex or other luxury watch sales. Maybe they have some sort of agreement with these watchmakers to prevent that. Who knows?

For every released color you see, Apple has tried and tested 99 more. They probably just couldn’t get a close enough gold color without going over budget.

I doubt they have agreements with other time piece manufacturers, if they can hurt the sales of competitionI’m sure they would... but traditional watches are almost an entirely different market.

I really like the gold and the subtlety of it. I think they will never please everyone - some people loved the more bronze colour of last year but I prefer this brighter more yellow gold. I’m sure one day there will be an even more yellow colour!

I ended up returning the gold watch due to my band matching ocd and the fact that you can’t polish scratches from the gold. Went back to regular stainless. Low and behold tho my gold link hand from aliexpress arrived today. Wish I still had the gold watch to put it up against to show you guys. Anyway color wouldn’t of matched exactly but it would of been a good contrast just like the stainless link band is with the silver stainless watch. So here’s a picture with my silver watch lol

Greetings,
I purchased two gold bands from Amazon and here they are on the watch. They look awesome. I don't think I'm going to bother having my old stainless steel link band changed to gold now.
Here are the links:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081GFVWN6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I actually had ordered a third one but it was uncomfortable and the gold didn't match well at all.

Cheers,
Bobbie
