I just have a simple question.

If I install Gold Master what happens when 10.8 is official?

Will I just go into the app store and hit install for 10.8 or do I need to put a fresh copy on?

Historically, the GM is exactly identical to the released version, with the same build number and everything. If that's the case here, you won't need to do anything.

It won't expire. In the very unlikely event it is different, you can download the final from the App store.

You can always upgrade from App Store. I upgraded the preinstalled Lion on my rMBP to ML DP4, and then GM. Can surely upgrade to final release if it's different than GM.

I did that for Snow Leopard as well.

BTW, I'm a professional Mac developer.

If OP wants to upgrade from App Store, you have to pay for the upgrade. There is no free upgrade, even from the GM copy. As a developer, I upgraded with the redemption codes.

yeah I don't care about paying. I just did not want my macbook pro to go dark like with previous ios betas.

The same thing will happen that happened with Lion.

Upon Lion release I went to the App Store and Lion already said "Installed"
