I went from a G5 to a MBP 17inch to a iMac now. While I do love my MBP, I never remove it from my desk. 30 inch Dell LCD hooked up, multiple Hard Drives, it looks like something from the Matrix. I was mostly using the MBP for Logic Pro, and bootcamp for Games. I do 3D visual effects for work so I don't think I will need a Mac Pro since I like to leave my work at work. I wanted something that would perform decent with Maya/Vray/Nuke if I needed it at home, but I am mostly looking forward to using a lower latency setting with Logic. The only thing that has me crying is no express port for my UAD card. :(

IMAC 27"/5750/SD

PROCESSOR 065-9512 2.93GHZ QUAD-CORE INTELCORE I7
MEMORY 065-9516 8GB 1333MHZ DDR3 SDRAM - 2X4GB
HARD DRIVE 065-0188 2TB SERIAL ATA DRIVE+256GB SSD
GRAPHICS 065-9457 ATI RADEON HD 5750 1GB GDDR5
OPTICAL DRIVE 065-9458 8X DOUBLE-LAYER SUPERDRIVE
MOUSE 065-0214 MAGIC MOUSE+MAGIC TRACKPAD

So I have all this crap plugged into my MBP. Looking forward to removing the midi-controller under the racks so the iMac display can sit lower.

Hopefully selling the Laptop/Dell Display/UAD card will offset my purchase a little.

I do hope I can play L4D2 in windows 7 at native res with max settings. Between L4D2 and Ultima Online, those are the only games I really care about. :)

I am kinda in the same boat as you. I have a 15" unibody and it's just so small screen wise. Also, I never take mine anywhere either. I'm in between getting a 27" iMac or shelling out for the new 27" cinema display and hooking the laptop up to it.

Decisions decisions.

Nice set up! I love seeing how people set up their equipment. Congrats on the purchase. I just ordered one meself.

That is a nice setup..I do some music producing too, that's why I am leaning towards the new iMac 27''. The yellowing of the screen in the 2009 models has got me thinking about purchasing it though :( I'm going to lurk around this forum for user reviews for a while before I make my decision.

I would sell it and get an iMac and an Ipad. No need for a laptop unless you use it for work on the go.

Do you use UAD plugins at all? That's my only regret for purchasing the iMac. If you get yellowing on the screen then I am sure you can swap it at an apple store if it is brand new. Does this happen out OTB?
