Good app on the ipad to plan trip abroad

Hi

I'm looking for a good app on the Ipad to plan a future trip abroad.

Technically I would like to do something similar to the desktop version of google maps: search for places, place pins and add comments and notes on the map for future reference, create itineraries and so on.

Unfortunately, the ipad version of google maps doesn't allow to create custom maps with pins, but only allow to create bookmarks, which is not as interesting in this case.

I looked for a few apps but could only find some allowing geotagging notes, and not placing notes on a map.

Any idea if a similar app would allow to do this exists?

Tripit. This is a pretty nice website and iPhone app for trip planning. They don't have an iPad version yet but don't let that stop.
