I honestly never thought that this day would come. My 2006 Mbp has been flawless except for the one time it left me stranded in Paris when I had a deadline to meet. Other then a few other small things it was a workhorse and was still running as well as the day I bought it. But I put it on craigslist last night and a kid swung by this morning handed me $850, and left with it under his arm.

My girlfriend got the greenlight on friday to start working from home and needed a bigger screen to do here gis and cad work. We started shopping for external monitors and found that A good pro monitor runs from $750 to $1200 in the 24-30 inch sizes. When looking for refurbished cinema displays I found that i5 27 inch iMacs were only $1500.

It was a no brainer. Pulled the trigger and it should be here Tuesday. People complain about the apple tax, but the 27 inch iMac especially refurbished is a steal. You couldn't buy a brand new pc and monitor with those specs anywhere for $1500.

This will be replacing my dusty unused plasma tv in the living room. My only peeve is that I need to buy the hdmi adapter for xbox but I'll deal.

The Mbp will be missed but my iPad and iPhone have replaced it for every mobile scenario anyway.

So excited.

Great for you. I love the imac's screen. You won't be disappointed by it.

Yeah I can't wait. I do a lot of photo editing and I have been squinting at my Mbp for years now. I started playing around with adjusting the levels on some full res shots of my girl friend at the apple store. She came around the corner and saw herself blown up in 27 inches of hdness and punched me in the arm.

She said something along the lines of "stop showing every pore on my face to the whole world".
