iPod Good cases for the iPod photo?

I have decided to buy a 30GB iPod photo because with the AC adapter, it's only $65 more than the mini and comes with a lot more.

What I do need to find is a good case before I buy the thing. I'm looking for a case that's somewhat shock-resistant, just in-case I drop it, but doesn't cover the front. Also, the case shouldn’t make the iPod a lot bigger.

Any suggestions? I've heard a lot of good things about iSkin.

My fiance brought one of those iSkin silicon jobbies for her Mini and i'm pretty keen on that as it allows you access to the click wheel and top of the iPod but protects the rest pretty well.

I have the Xtreme Mac silicone sleeve - slips on and off easily, and protects everything nicely.

I hate the sleeves with the condom-like screen covers.

I've got an iSkin and it's great. Had to take the belt clip off though because it kept cracking into my leg. Now I rarely notice that I'm carrying it.

iSkin Evo 2 all the way. I can't recommend it highly enough. Make sure you remove the belt clip first, though, because (a) it's crap and (b) its mount can mar the back of your iPod. Without the clip, the iPod + iSkin combination is very durable and you don't even notice that the iSkin is installed.

What color do you have? I was thinking about getting the glow-in-the-dark white one since the iPod is white. Do you think the glow-in-the-dark feature is worth it? Is it useful in any way or does it just attract attention to the iPod?

I have tried one of those skins but didn't really like it because putting it on and off put stress on the ipod and eventually my ipod now has a tiny bit of play between the two halves. It also scuffed around the edges. I think this is mainly cos I had to half take it off else it wouldn't fit in the dock (but i guess you didn't get a dock! !)
I have tried the apple case (also supplied back in those days) and that gave me verticle scratching (from the silly Apple logo stitched into it).

Funnily enough I now use the iPod Socks! - You may have to trust me, but they are Great! - seriously! No scratches, fit perfectly arround the iPod, don't bulk up the ipod in your pocket, really well made, and very easy to slip on and off to plug in a dock or into a hifi or into a car charger or summit. PLUS, you can "feel" the click wheel through the fabric, and can play/pause easily.

I would Highly Reccommend them. I have had an iPod since the very first one came out (i put that in my pocket with no case and keys and scratched the hell out of it!), and I now use a sock on all 3 iPods I own. (They fit best on the new ones)

PLUS - you can buy the pack of 6, keep your two favorite colours and sell the rest, eventually for a profit (someone put up a thread on here a couple of days ago selling some, and they went in 3 hours!). What other "case" will make you money!?

(Don't trust me though, get this and make your own mind up! (ipodlounge is maybe the oldest ipod site I know))

I ditched my iSkin cos it was just too bulky and didn't protect the scroll wheel.
The Podsleevz gives less shock resistance but for me that's not a problem.

The glow-in-the-dark iSkin is opaque, unlike the standard "arctic" white iSkin, which is sorta translucent. Beyond that, there's no functional difference, aside from the glow factor.

I have both a white (Arctic) iSkin and a glowing white (Ghost) iSkin, which I switch out every so often.

Well my shopping trip was 100% unsuccessful. There just isn't enough choice in the mainstream shops in Milton Keynes. Think i'll just het an iskin off of eBay....cheaper too.

You do realise you can still use the click wheel!?
(as it is based on heat from the finger i think, or electricity or summit!?)

Are you planning on dropping your iPod a lot? - Free tip; Don't! (to be honest it won't matter what case it's in to a great extent, if the HD gets scratched inside (by the RW arm) from shock or freak accellerations, the thing's buggered anyway!) I lost a beloved friend that way, my poor old 5GB iPod 1st Gen, sob.

In the end, if you're careful enough, you'll be very gald you got something as small as possible - it's amazing how bulky an iPod can become with even just a thin leather case on it (my old iSkin made it bulky and tachy (sticky) in the pocket, and the belt- buckle attahment was naff!)

Go for the socks! - use 2, sell the rest on ebay for £5 each - money back and a lovely £1 profit!

The sock sound like your "bag" (sorry).
Strong (haven't teared mine yet) Fits all pods perfectly, does not scratch at all (I know, a rarety), and it's simple to slip the ipod in and out, but it will stay on in your pocket.
