ok, so right now i'm trying to get rid of my powerbook g4 15"..

it's currently up on ebay and i'm looking to get 950 out of it. Link

the specs are as follows:

1.33ghz g4
1ggb ram (1 stick)
60gb hard drive
and a combo drive.

Here's the thing i'm contemplating on..

i was looking on mac of all trades and i submitted my laptop to their sales department to see how much i could get out of it.

at first, they said 700..

i responded and said sorry, but that's too low, i'm going to see how my ebay auction goes.

then they responded back with 800.

so, i then asked if they'd be willing to do a trade for a powermac g4.

the specs on that machine are as follows:

dual procesoor 1.25ghz
512mb ram
80gb hard drive
combo drive

my question to you guys is do you think i can get 950 out of my powerbook? and if you were in my position, what would you do?

because if i can, i can get a better machine than what i'd be trading for for about 900-950 and have more money towards a monitor.

I would go gor the 800. I'm not sure you will get a $950 out of it on eBay. The PowerMac is in my opinion a bad choice. Though it's a dualcore, it has half the RAM, and though it has a 20 GB larger drive, I wouldn't go for it. In addition you would need a display and keyboard+mouse (if you don't have already). If you want a desktop, trade it for 800, and buy a maxed out duo mini (this will need some extra cach). Or otherwise, get a MB, MBP or iMac.:D

i'm not at all interested in going to intel at this time..

i had an imac.. got scammed trading it for this powerbook (guy said it was faster)

however, he is sending me 250 and a 512mb stick of ram for the powerbook..
but i've been wanting a powermac for a while now.. and if anything, i would get a powermac g5 dual 1.8 off ebay. they go pretty low these days.

Okay. G5's are cool, and it's definietly faster than your PowerBook. However, take into consieration, that a 2.0 GHz Core Duo is around the same a dual 2.5 GHz G5, which means you'd be off a lot better with an Intel. I don't understand why you don't want to go Intel...

i'm not too sure why i don't want to go to intel either.

for me, i just don't really trust them.. i've heard so much crap about macbooks..

i may just stick with my powerbook and install the additional 512mb stick i'm recieving. leaving me with 1.5gb ram of course..

and as for hard drive, i could care less beause everything i have except apps is on an external hard drive which is not near full..

plus, the extra 250 i'm getting can be used for traveling.. which, the powerbook will come in handy for also.

idk, as of right now, and like always, i'm really confused with what to do.

i keep wanting to switch computers, then not.. if that makes sense haha.
